Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

At Queens NRI Hospital we provide an advanced 4 bedded Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of international standards. NICU is located on the 2nd floor just adjacent to the Labour room which allows immediate transfer of pre-term/sick babies. Our well designed NICU is equipped with all the modern equipments such as ventilators, incubators, cardioscope monitors, CPAP machine, phototherapy machines to meet the needs of the tiniest and the sickest newborn.

All problems which a sick newborn may face such as extreme prematurity, very low birth weight (weight < 1kg), respiratory and cardiac problems, congenital anomalies, surgical emergencies have been faced and successfully treated at the NICU.

The department has the capability of transporting the sick babies by means of a transport incubator. There is a 24 hours Ambulance Service to transport such babies from place of delivery to our NICU.

The term "neonates" applies to all infants during the first 28 days of life. Neonatal Intensive care unit is designed for premature or sick infants requiring cardio-respiratory monitoring and care such as oxygen by hood or ventilators, IV drugs through infusion pumps, or any form of surgery.
