At Queen's NRI Hospital, the Laboratory is well equipped and has a "round-the-clock" laboratory testing facility catering to both outpatient as well as patients admitted in the hospital with an extremely comprehensive menu of investigations to choose from which includes routine and specialised investigations. The Department of Laboratory Medicine is equipped with the latest state-of-the-art analyzers, which are fully integrated with the Laboratory Informatic System providing for online results.
The department boasts of consistent and quality results through stringent Quality Control measures and participation in recognised External Proficiency Testing Programmes. The department has been accreditated (M-0135) in the field of medical testing by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals (NABH). (Laboratory standards are part of NABH accreditation process).
We have the latest integrated biochemistry analyser with capacity to produce emergency results in a very short time. Radiometer, Blood Gas Analyzer, Glucose II Analyser, ES-300- the automated walk away immunoassay system,form the biochemistry parameters in addition to routine biochemistry tests.
State-of-the-art ABBOTT Haematology analyzer equipment generate interpretative data, along with flags or signals for abnormalities of red cells, white cells and platelets. All such 'flagged' samples are reviewed by the hematologist and a descriptive report with advice is issued to the patient.
A large variety of tests for characterizing complex bleeding and thrombotic disorders are available. These include coagulation factor assays, tests for thrombophilia and platelet function tests. Reliable monitoring of oral anticoagulation is made possible with the help of high quality reagents.
In Histopathology all surgical specimens are processed by standard technique and reported with grading and staging of tumours according to internationally used classifications. The cytopathology laboratory handles both gynaecological and non-gynaecological specimens sent for cytology. Onco Pathology Specimens form large part of histopathology works which is handeled by our trained onco-pathologist.
